Konstanz ist die größte Stadt am Bodensee und Kreisstadt des Landkreises Konstanz. Seit 1. April 1956 ist Konstanz eine Große Kreisstadt und bildet ein Oberzentrum innerhalb der Region Hochrhein-Bodensee im Regierungsbezirk Freiburg im Bundesland Baden-Württemberg.

In Konstanz sind zwei Hochschulen ansässig, die Universität Konstanz und die Hochschule Konstanz Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung. Die Geschichte des Ortes reicht bis in römische Zeit zurück.
